Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
That moment when time simply stops you in your tracks.
Is it your happy place?
A moment when questions about the universe roll into your head.
Vivid reflections on life.
Or just absolute silence as you meditate on the beauty.
A sunset.
LIFE IS SHORT
“Every act counts. Every thought and emotion counts too. This is all the path we have. This is where we apply the teachings. This is where we come to understand why we meditate. We are only going to be here for a short while. Even if we live to be 108, our life will be too short for witnessing all its wonders. The dharma is each act, each thought, each word we speak. Are we at least willing to catch ourselves spinning off and to do that without embarrassment? Do we at least aspire to not consider ourselves a problem, but simply a pretty typical human being who could at that moment give him- or herself a break and stop being so predictable?
My experience is that this is how our thoughts begin to slow down. Magically, it seems that there’s a lot more space to breathe, a lot more room to dance, and a lot more happiness.”
Pema Chodron: When Things Fall Apart
At the end of the day you can lift yourself up with those you’ve surrounded yourself with…the right connections matter.
I love this time of spring. Clouds of pink blossoms float overhead lining each avenue. They break free slowly falling, like they’re falling in love with the ground. Lasting only seconds in time, but it’s enough.
What a perfect spot for jumping into the water, reading or just day dreaming.
There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self. Aldous Huxley
‘When things are difficult, then let yourself be happy.’ Otherwise, if happiness is relying on others or the environment or your surroundings, it’s not possible. Tibetan saying
Get comfortable with letting go of parts of your identity. It makes space for you to nurture the new parts that come from growth.
Walk out of your safe zone…often. It helps to expand the areas that feel safe.
Scare yourself by doing things you normally wouldn’t - a little bit every day.
Stop surrounding yourself with clutter. Only buy the things you REALLY love.
Be aware, be curious, read lots.
Social media friends are great, but they won’t keep you warm at night, they don’t give you loyalty and they won’t be there for the challenges you experience. Cultivate relationships that raise you up, tell you the truth, help you to always push harder.
Learn to say NO.
Examine your fears (doubt, jealousy, etc) - it’s the best way to learn more about yourself.
Help someone, even if they can never do anything in return for you.
Courage is learned. So is bravery. And love is essential.
Durga - Invincible, Radiant, Powerful, Supreme, Divinely Feminine and Destroyer of Demons
Dear Old Self,
I’ve set fire to you - destroying the old demons - you’re not needed here anymore.
Making way for change and grace. A choice to grow and be strong.
The New Self is like that - destroying all that isn’t needed to create a powerful, loving, supreme woman. A woman who is going to make a difference in the world.
It isn’t enough to connect with my soul’s deepest desires. I have to act. My choices have to align with my desires or I risk it becoming a daydream that never unfolds into precious reality.
It isn’t enough that I know my yearnings, I must fully live the life that I know only I can.
True revolution comes from true revulsion; when things get bad enough, the kitten will kill the lion. Charles Bukowski
If what you’re doing isn’t nourishing your soul, move on to something that does.
Find what you love and let it kill you. Charles Bukowski
